And the New Year Approaches

As 2012 looms ahead, everyone is thinking of resolutions, new beginnings, shedding the burdens of the past year (including weight) and so on.  I have been thinking a lot about spiritual things lately, in addition to worrying about how all the negativity of the news about the environment, our treatment of our fellow creatures – human and otherwise – and religious extremism of all kinds is affecting me.  I also have to figure out a way to lose weight and tone up because that is getting harder these days too.  And, I have to break my writer’s block and start writing again, in spite of the demands and time constraints.  I need to work at building better relationships – with friends and relatives, but I believe that will be a part of the spiritual resolution.

I’m going to hope that the long list of to dos in the house and yard will be accomplished as a part of the writing – it is a great time to brainstorm, let ideas cook awhile, and just let the muse rest a bit as well.  The exercise will come with the dance, whether I decide to belly dance again or go with Zumba, and that will help with the writing too, I think (and the relationships as well).  The spiritual?  Well, I have my copies of “A Course in Miracles” and “The Disappearance of the Universe”.  That will start things off I think.

After watching mom suffer with this insidious disease, I have decided living every day thoroughly and completely is much more important than making sure there are a whole lot of days out there or saving up money and “things” for those days out there, because those days may not be there.  And even if they are, you may not be in any shape to enjoy them anyway.  Carpe diem for sure!
